The South American Incas were famous for their remarkable use of gold. Not only did they make jewellery and elaborate head dresses out of this precious metal, they made golden alpacas and Lamas. Like the ancient Egyptians the Incas buried their dead with offerings that symbolised the deceased persons needs in the afterlife. Alpacas were central to the Incan Empire, and so a golden llama or alpaca was essential.
Reproduced from Daniel Mackie's watercolour painting, this print is printed on somerset velvet 225gsm fine art paper.
