Blackbird - Card
Blackbirds feature in the English nursery rhyme, “Sing a song of sixpence” where, ”Four and twenty blackbirds” are baked in a pie. It is known that a 16th-century amusement was to place live birds in a pie as a form of entremet. The birds would fly out when the pie was cut. The rhyme has it’s origins in the 17th C. It is referenced in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.
