Stag Beetle - Print
Stag Beetle - Print
With names like, ‘thunder spreader ‘and ‘fire spreader’, the stag beetle is associated with the darker aspects of culture. According to British folklore, Stag Beetles summoned thunder and lightning storms, which scared the wits out of medieval peasants who also believed that they flew around with hot coals in their jaws setting fire to buildings!
Reproduced from Daniel Mackie's watercolour painting, this print is printed on somerset velvet 225gsm fine art paper.
Shipped in a tube. Frame not included. Signed by the artist.

Lovely quality print, mounted and framed even better. Arrived quickly and well protected. Thanks.
This is is such a beautifully detailed print. I’ve already got the ladybird and bee and it looks just great alongside those. Love the Green too.
This is the 9th Daniel Mackie Print I have purchased, having discovered one of his greetings cards (the floral bee) in the National Museum for Scotland a couple of years ago.
They are beautiful prints, and finely adorn my home.
